About Bob
Bob played on the Georgia Southern University golf team with former PGA Tour players Mike Donald and Jodie Mudd. After finishing as a quarterfinalist in the United States Amateur Championship, Burk served as captain of the squad his senior year while completing his degree in Journalism. After a short stint playing the mini-tour circuit he settled into his first golf professional’s position at Palmetto Dunes Resort on Hilton Head Island. Bob has now served as both a PGA Head Professional, and PGA Director of Instruction in the Georgia Section for over 20 years. Burk won the Central Georgia Youth Development Award in 2014 and was named Teacher of the Year in 2016. He’s also won several senior professional events, including the Georgia Senior PGA Championship, and has played in the Senior Professional National Championship three times.
Burk credits Georgia Section PGA professionals Gale Peterson , Bobby Hix and Bill Robinson as golf coaches who helped him develop as a teacher. He says, “Gale helped me understand the physics of a good golf swing and Bobby showed me how to identify each players specific challenge at each stage. Bill taught me to simplify my approach with players and how to communicate clearly.”
